Hi ladies,
Every winter, I give my hair a much needed break and protect it from the harsh cold weather by wearing an instant weave/half wig. I take care of my own hair so that I retain all my length. I will make a video on my winter regimen soon. In the interim, here are some key points in my regimen:
- Cornrow my own hair,
- Moisturize my hair daily, and
- Wash weekly.
In general, people's hair growth slows in the winter time. So by having a low manipulation regimen during the winter months, I maximize on how much length I retain.
Please let me know if you have any questions/issues you would like me to address in the video.
Happy growing.

Do you think sew-ins are a healty alternative also?
I got the same question on my Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Coarse-Hair-Long-Hair/369963412749) and this was my response:
Sew-ins are a great option IF your scalp can handle not being washed/exfoliated for weeks at a time. Its important to still moisturize your real hair under the sew-in regularly. While you can wash your hair in the sew in, you won't be abl...e to remove all the debris from your scalp that you normally would when you massage your scalp during washing, rinsing etc.)
I got a sew-in once during my hair journey and had to remove them after about 3 weeks b/c my scalp doesn't respond well to not being washed after 1 week.
Thanks!
What's a good shampoo
Hi MsKibibi,
I saw how you grew your hair to amazing lengths and I must say that I am impressed. I am on a natural journey myself but although our textures are different, my question is still a valid one. Can you tell me what you do to keep your relaxed ends healthy? i just went from CBL to FNL because of splits and before I put in a sew in, I chopped a lot of what I perceived to be damage off myself. I was thrilled for a bit but then I found myself wanting my 'few strands touching APL' length back. SO now I am determined to grow it healthy and keep my relaxed ends until I get about mid BSL/MBL and then cutting back a little to closer to APL. My hair is currently in a sew in as I said before and it grows just fine at the average rate, I just need to know how to keep my ends in better condition. Will a sew in help me do this? WHat are your thoughts?
-Ency.
