Product Review: Goody Updo Maker

A few weeks ago, I posted that I found a replacement for my claw clips.  Well, that didn't last very long.

I've been using the Updo Maker daily since then, but now the coating on it is peeling.  I'm not sure whether the problem is the coarseness of my hair, or the oils I use that is causing it to peel. But now when I insert the Updo Maker, it no longer glides in smoothly and it feels like it will break or cut my hair in the process.  So now I have to find another way to pin my hair up while at home.

Did this happen to anyone else? Any other suggestions?

Why don't you just peel the rest of the coating off and use the metal?

Why not try the goody spin pins? There sold @ walmart. No breakage, can't beat that!

Well my concern is that the metal alone won't glide through my hair as well. I have the Goody spin pins but they don't work for holding a loose bun. I use them to make a tight bun for my ballet class and horseback riding lessons.

I've seen this in stores but was always curious as to how they're used in coarse hair. Do you have any pics of you using them?

Thanks,

Joslyn :-)

Hmmm.... I think the metal itself should be fine to glide though your hair so long as you don't use sandpaper or something rough to scrape the rest of the coating off. I think the coating it just there to camoflauge the pin to blonde/brunette hair.

I'm digging the Goody Pony Pouf right now. I can make a loose pony tail with it, then I use a bobby pin to make a bun. It gives great hold and makes for a thick bun.

Can you coat it with some clear varnish or polish or something like that? Let it dry really well and try that...
